Biofabrique Vienna Challenge „Colours at Work”

As part of the Urban Food and Design programme, the Vienna Business Agency and Vienna Design Week launched two Biofabrique Vienna Challenges centred on Vienna Colours—natural dyes and pigments derived from previously unused organic waste streams.

The Colours at Work challenge called for new approaches to future workwear for bioregional designers. The challenge winner, Stefan Decker, impressed the jury with his design for a work jacket made from second-hand T-shirts, dyed with Vienna Colours and upcycled into a new garment. The results will be presented at Biofabrique Vienna at the former Nordwestbahnhof during the 20th Vienna Design Week. As part of a practical field test, the teams of Biofabrique Vienna and Vienna Design Week will wear the jackets and evaluate them in their day-to-day work.
