Workshop: BIOREGIONAL DESIGN PRACTICES (with Jan Boelen)
Attend the workshop during Vienna Design Week 2024!
How can unused local resources be transformed into innovative materials for design and architecture? To answer questions like these, the interdisciplinary research design lab Atelier LUMA has developed the bioregional design approach on which the Biofabrique Vienna pilot project is based.
As part of Vienna Design Week 2024, Jan Boelen (artistic director of Atelier LUMA) will hold a workshop on how bioregional practices help to create and build an ecosystem together with organisations, designers, entrepreneurs and professionals.
Simultaneously, an exhibition during Vienna Design Week will show how bioregional design practices were applied during the 100-day pilot phase of Biofabrique Vienna. Studio dreiSt. used the building materials developed there to design the festival's hospitality area - the Biofabrique Canteen - which will be presented afterwards.
Biofabrique Vienna is a pilot project of the Vienna Business Agency and Atelier LUMA, a programme of LUMA Arles, in partnership with the Institute of Architectural Design at TU Wien.
