Vienna Art Week: Navigating Angst

The 22nd edition of Vienna Art Week takes place from 6 to 13 November under the theme ‘Navigating Angst’ and invites visitors to explore art and the phenomena of our time from a wide variety of perspectives, free of charge. Together with around 70 programme partners, the festival offers a week of inspiring art – ranging from the contemporary to the Baroque – with free admission.

Vienna Art Week is taking up residence in a former tenement block on Vienna’s Gürtel in the 15th district. Spanning four levels, from the basement to the third floor, the House of Navigating Angst presents 30 artistic projects. The exhibition shows how artists translate the theme into images, spaces and actions. Through art, the exhibition explores ways of dealing with anxiety, coping with complexity and remaining capable of taking action.

Works on display include those by Paulina Emilia Aumayr, Kiki Furlan & Can Denzer, Daniel Guzmán, Sophie Hirsch, Chantal Kaufmann, Tony Oursler and Kara Walker, amongst others.

The exhibition is curated by Robert Punkenhofer (Artistic Director of Vienna Art Week) and co-curator Anne Zühlke.
