SUBOTRON arcademy: The New (Ab)normal: Everyday Life as Interactive Experience
Event in cooperation with SUBOTRON arcademy
Fantastic settings, heroic protagonists called to save the world, memorable feats: why do video games seem obsessed with such narrative ‘maximalism’? Why not (also) try to “capture the splendor of truth”, and tackle real-world, here-and-now societal issues? Why not explore the path of a possible fresh and innovative ‘interactive neorealism’, based on values of empathy, social impact and the transformative potential of game design? Claudia Molinari, co-founder and producer at independent game studio We Are Muesli, will talk about her experience developing the narrative video game “In Their Shoes”, a collection of slice-of-life, stereotype-breaking short stories set in the daily life of a city of contrasts and diversity like present-day Milan.
The event is open to the public free of charge and without registration and is being held with the support of the Vienna Business Agency.
