Independent Space Index 2026

From Friday 29 to Sunday 31 May independent Viennese art spaces will once again open their doors together as part of the Independent Space Index 2026. At this year's festival, around 45 spaces will invite visitors to freely accessible special events and exhibitions during joint opening hours. The Independent Space Index is an initiative by Vienna-based creative practitioners and independent space operators. With its multi-day festival of the same name, the Independent Space Index has, since its first edition in 2018, been the largest annually recurring joint event of independent art spaces in Vienna. Its aim is to present the diversity of artistic production and the places where it is created to a broad public.

The Independent Space Index 2026 is organised in cooperation with the Vienna Business Agency.
