Digital Humanism Interdisciplinary Science and Research Conference 2025
Digital humanism for a techno-eco-social transformation of global society
Vienna stands out as a hub of digital humanism.
Which activities and results are indispensable for the development of a socially and environmentally compatible technical infrastructure worldwide? How can the promotion of meaningful technologies be achieved, and how can technologies that cannot contribute to a solution or are harmful to transformative goals be prevented from being promoted at the expense of meaningful technologies? All of these answers, once implemented, will help determine the future of humanity.
The Vienna-based independent research institute GSIS takes up the topic of digital humanism and places it in the context of the polycrisis, in which the existential threats to humanity reinforce each other. This conference will provide a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on the profound impact of digitization, exploring both its promises and risks. It invites contributions from diverse perspectives, including governance and regulation of AI, privacy and digital rights, participatory approaches, the role of tech monopolies, human-centered AI, and the environmental impact of digitization
