Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces at the urbanize! Festival
Rethinking urban spaces. Practical experiences and lessons learnt
urbanize! 2026 focuses on the street as a public urban space.
As part of the event, selected winners of the ‘Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces’ competition will provide insights into the implementation of their concepts in the urban outdoor environment. The event kicks off with a guided tour of Biofabrique Vienna, a project by the Vienna Business Agency, to familiarise participants with the venue and material innovation within the context of a bioregional design approach. Following this, Martin Färber from the Social Design class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the VIA TANKE collective, Jan Gartner from Placemaking Austria and the architectural duo COAT will give brief presentations on their projects. In conversation with the audience and project partners, they will share practical experiences and lessons learnt. The event provides a space for discussion on how creative interventions can revitalise urban open spaces and strengthen neighbourhoods.
