Creative Days X Wiener Festwochen
HOUSE OF THE REPUBLIC- A look behind the scenes
On 6 June at 4 pm, Wiener Festwochen will be giving a guided tour of the House of the Republic together with a class from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
Since ancient times, the "republic" form of government has stood for (political) freedom, the common good and the right to have a say. In May and June, a separate House of the Republic will therefore open its doors, halls, courtyards, cafés and staircases: a living headquarters of the Free Republic of Vienna in the Folklore Museum, where local and international activist initiatives, students and the team of the Free Republic of Vienna will relocate their everyday work. In cooperation with Aktivismus Camp of the Vienna Climate Biennale and "before it gets better..." of the Volkskundemuseum Wien.
Questioning common ways of thinking, institutional processes and ingrained norms creates a place for cheerfully controversial discussion and concrete scrutiny. How can a climate-friendly and solidary future succeed?
