This tour leads to the Nordwestbahnhof, where major urban development changes are currently being prepared.
The Biofabrique Vienna – a project by the Vienna Business Agency dedicated to material innovation within a bioregional design framework – presents its new location.
Two winning projects of the Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces competition by the Vienna Business Agency demonstrate how Vienna’s creative industries enhance public spaces in local neighborhoods and help the city adapt to social and climate-related challenges.

Biofabrique Vienna – Vienna Business Agency
The Biofabrique Vienna, a project by the Vienna Business Agency, focuses on material innovation for the creative industries. Located on the former Nordwestbahnhof site, it centers on the concept of bioregional design and creates a place for collaborative work. During the tour, the approaches and interdisciplinary methods of the Biofabrique Vienna will be explained. Previous research results – from tiles to dyes – will be presented.

Shade Commons – Konstantin Kim, Ekaterina Korchagina & Osvaldo Almendra
“Shade Commons” is a shading system by Konstantin Kim, Ekaterina Korchagina, and Osvaldo Almendra that, inspired by horticultural structures, protects from extreme weather conditions and creates inviting places to linger.

(W)Hole in One – Tracing Spaces & Team
„(W)Hole in One“ by Tracing Spaces & Team transforms the Nordwestbahnhof’s vacant land into a small urban golf course with an ecological learning path. The project playfully highlights the potential that emerges during the transformation of the area into a new, ecologically sustainable district.

Wrap up & Urban Golf
Following the tour, the bar at Tracing Spaces will be open, and visitors are welcome to play urban golf. Clubs can be borrowed on-site.
