Creative Days Vienna 2026: Workshops & Tours

The second day of Creative Days Vienna 2026 offers workshops and tours across the city, inviting participants to dive deeper into themes of open source, creative governance, sustainable design and digital culture. The morning begins with a workshop by Paloma Oliveira and Kristina Maurer, who explore open source as a cultural and political practice. A parallel morning session with Ramon Reichert and NeverAtHome focuses on governance, ownership and organizational structures within creative spaces
In the afternoon, Biofabrique Vienna and Bika Rebek host a session dedicated to digital spaces for bioregional design approaches. At the MuseumsQuartier, a talk and panel on Digital Design for Health brings together game designer Marlène Delrive with experts from the Vienna Business Agency and the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft to discuss how digital tools can support patient‑centred innovation. Another workshop led by AREA[404], examines the economics of music distribution and invites participants to develop new models for fairer creative ecosystem. The day concludes with a guided tour at the Nordwestbahnhof area by Creatives for Vienna, offering insights into the role of creatives in shaping urban spaces

MORNING SESSIONS
10.00 am – 12.30 pm
WORKSHOP: Open Source: Building equitable, inclusive and sustainable tech communities @ Westbahnstudios
This workshop by Paloma Oliveira and Kristina Maurer explores open source as a cultural and political force, offering tools for building equitable, decentralised and collaborative digital systems. Participants will trace its history, study inspiring projects and shape their own visions for inclusive, sustainable digital futures. It is aimed at creatives, developers and technologists. WORKSHOP: Shared Infrastructures. tools & governance for creative spaces with Ramón Reichert and NeverAtHome
The workshop gathers creatives to identify practical needs and develop empowering spaces for action. After input on ownership, platform economies and data use, participants co-create alternative approaches for non commercial digital environments and sustainable practices. Hosted by NeverAtHome. WORKSHOP: Digital Spaces for Bioregional Design. Biofabrique Vienna & Bika Rebek
The workshop explores how analogue, material focused laboratory spaces like Biofabrique Vienna can be meaningfully transferred into the digital realm. WORKSHOP: Talk, Panel & Networking: Digital Design for Health @ MuseumsQuartier
Game designer Marlène Delrive presents As Long As You’re Here, a game that conveys the experience of Alzheimer’s from the inside. A panel with Jutta Scheibelberger, Georg Russegger and moderator Jogi Neufeld explores how games, wearables and digital tools can support patient‑centred health solutions. WORKSHOP: Fair P[l]ay by AREA[404] @ Westbahnstudios
A hands-on workshop exploring the political economy of music distribution and the alternatives emerging beyond dominant streaming platforms. Participants trace music’s material history, examine cooperative and open-source models, and work in groups to design new distribution approaches. 5.00 - 6.30 pm
TOUR: Creatives for Vienna X Biofabrique Vienna @ Nordwestbahnhof
This tour visits the Nordwestbahnhof, an area undergoing major urban transformation. The Biofabrique Vienna presents its new site and its work on bioregional material innovation. Two winning projects from the “Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces” competition showcase how local creative initiatives enrich public spaces and support the city in responding to social and climate challenges.
