Are you a creative professional looking to revitalize public spaces in Vienna or turn them into places of exchange?
Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces supports concepts that reimagine specific outdoor spaces in Vienna, actively contributing to the city’s quality of life for everyone. Ten winners will each receive a prize of €15,000 and support in bringing their concept to life.
The competition is held in cooperation with the Klima Biennale Vienna. Selected award-winning projects will have the opportunity to be presented during the Klima Biennale from April 9 to May 26, 2026.
What can be submitted?
Concepts that revitalize open spaces in Vienna—such as public or semi-public areas, squares, or brownfields—through design or programming:
- Design: Concepts that make outdoor spaces usable through shading, greening, flexible furniture, or installations and invite people to linger.
- Programming: Concepts that enliven outdoor spaces with events, participatory activities, performances, or neighborhood offerings, for example, and promote exchange.
Projects that combine design and programming may also be submitted.

Rating: | The award-winning concepts are selected by an independent jury and experts from the Vienna Business Agency, who judge the competition entries according to these criteria: Added value for Vienna's creative scene, potential for change and activation, qualifications and professionalism of the entrants, realistic and professional planning, sustainability, effectiveness and significance for the urban environment. |
