Content Vienna – competition for digital design

All participants are informed of the jury’s decision in writing. The detailed assessment outcomes are only accessible to the Vienna Business Agency and the reviewers and are excluded from inspection.. Consequently, no details will be given for projects that are not selected as winners. 

Eligible for submission are creative digital projects in development, prototypes, demo versions, and concepts. They can come from areas such as games (digital games and playful media), augmented, extended and virtual reality, animation, visual effects, 360° video, digital design for health, interactive narrative formats, web and mobile applications (including blockchain/Web3), machine learning and artificial intelligence, platforms for digital content publishing, serial online content, digital applications for wearable IT, and quantum computing (e.g. visualization of quantum phenomena). For the special prize Digital Design for Health, projects can be submitted that engage with the healthcare sector: from wearables that combine digital technologies with design, to playful applications and games on the topic.

No. There is a maximum of one project per applicant, whether they are a private individual, a company or an association. 

An independent jury assesses submitted projects on the basis of the following criteria: 

• Creative quality and/or innovation potential
• Qualification and professionalism of the applicants/project team
• Implementation planning
• Project impact

After the submission deadline, the Vienna Business Agency reviews all submissions with regard to compliance with the terms of participation, the approved project formats, and the completeness of the submitted documents. Provided the submitted projects meet these requirements, they will be evaluated by an independent jury.

The jury members assess the approved projects according to the criteria listed above. The highest-rated projects will determine the finalists, who will be notified in October 2026. These finalists will have the opportunity to present their project to the jury in October 2026. The jury selects up to five projects from the finalists' submissions to receive production support of €10,000 each, as well as the special prize "Digital Design for Health" worth €10,000. A bonus of €1,000 each will be awarded to all projects receiving a production grant or the "Digital Design for Health" special prize that are led by women. In addition, up to five further projects can be awarded the special prize Content Vienna Connecting – South by Southwest.

An independent jury of external and internal experts assesses submitted projects.
