The Vienna Business Agency has undertaken a diverse range of initiatives to help people to become more aware of and to experience research on a day-to-day basis. The goal is to inform the public about new technology and achievements in research and, in particular, to create enthusiasm among the scientists and researchers of tomorrow.
Workshops for school groups
Ideenattacke - 3rd and 4th grades
The Ideenattacke workshop gives primary school children the opportunity to spend a morning exploring the world of science. Students discover the significance of research and innovation and encounter exciting examples in Vienna. Children spend the research period learning:
- to draw connections between terms like “research” and “innovation” and actual aspects of their everyday lives
- to recognise the relevance of research and innovation for our society
- about different professions in the sciences
- and, last but not least, to be inventive
Ideenattacke workshops will begin in April 2021, and will be held at the Vienna Business Agency.
Future Health - 7th and 8th grades
Future Health workshops introduce students to Viennese success stories in biotechnology and medical engineering. Students discover which professions in this sector have the best prospects and what a working day really looks like. Workshops conclude with an opportunity for the young participants to get creative and invent their own medical product.
Future Health workshops are designed to stimulate interest in less well-known but very promising professions at the interface of health and technology, and to support young people in exploring relevant career paths.
Green Tech – 7th and 8th grades
The concept of GreenTech covers innovations and technologies in environmental protection and sustainability. GreenTech workshops introduce students to a range of “green” innovations in Vienna in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals. A career guidance package offers the workshop participants a comprehensive choice of educational and career options – all with great prospects. Students then use their new-found knowledge to get creative and develop their own sustainable solutions.
These interactive career guidance workshops raise awareness of sustainability and inspire young people to actively take control of their futures through their choice of career.
DigiMe – 7th and 8th grades
Where do we actually find IT? How and where can I find out more about IT-related careers? How can I easily learn the basics of programming from my home? The Vienna Business Agency’s free DigiMe workshops will answer these and many more questions.
These interactive workshops are designed to stimulate interest in digital technologies and support young people in choosing an IT career path.
Future Health, DigiMe and Green Tech workshops will be delivered online from February 2021. From April 2021, COVID permitting, face-to-face workshops will be offered at venues to be determined.
