Stations at the Research Festival on Tour 2021
This year, the Research Festival on Tour focuses on Vienna as a digital, climate-friendly and healthy city. The following inventions and technologies from Vienna are waiting to be discovered and tried out:
Bringing textbooks to life (Amlogy)
The augmented reality app “Areeka” brings textbooks to life with 2-D and 3-D animation on mobile phones and tablets. This makes it easier for children and adolescents to understand and retain what they have read.
Robot worm for sewer rehabilitation (Foccus)
Foccus Innovation GmbH has developed a cordless robot for cleaning up sewage pipes. It can be controlled remotely by using a live camera image.
Solution for streaming errors (Legitary)
The rapidly growing streaming market is struggling with a transparency problem: Streaming and the sales associated with it are difficult to monitor. Legitary has developed a method that automatically identifies anomalies in streaming invoices, helping artists to be paid fairly.
Insulation materials from hemp waste (Hempstatic)
Hempstatic produces insulation materials from agrarian waste. These materials can be either reused or recycled after their useful life. The company’s first products are noise insulation boards for interior construction.
Mushrooms and bacteria for agriculture (Evologic)
The TU Spin-off “Evologic” aims to reduce the use of synthetic chemical products in agriculture and replace them with organic products. The company is working on a cost-effective, biologically degradable alternative to the pollutant glyphosate.
Vegan fish from a 3-D printer (Revo Foods)
Revo Foods specialises in the development of plant-based fish, using its own innovative 3-D printer technology. Its introductory [NH2] product is the world’s first 3-D-printed smoked salmon, “Salmon with Attitude”.
Training after memory loss (Memocorby)
Memocorby is a digital learning tool for multisensory learning and memory training in the health and therapy sectors. The five dice are controlled through an app and can be tried out on site.
Urine tests for dogs and cats (PezzLife)
The testing kit by PezzLife helps pet owners identify health risks to their dogs and cats at an early stage. Visitors can try out the DIY screening test themselves on a model dog.
Prosthetics and orthotics of the future (Otto Bock)
