Park with Your Smartphone
There are already all sorts of mobile parking services and yet the Austrian startup ‘Parkbob’ is not just one of many. Why? They are aware of all parking spaces at all times.
How? The six-member team headed by creator Christian Adelsberger has tapped into parking spaces in 15 different European cities, which took months of hard work. Data available to the public (Open Government Data) and data from municipalities was collected, which has to be updated on a daily basis. Everything is not as automatic and simple as it now appears in the app. These huge quantities of data are prepared by Lidija Filipovic, one of four women in the international Parkbob team.
CEO Christian Adelsberger himself has a lot of experience in the field of startups and technology – the 40-year-old has already worked for Google, Yahoo and Skype. With Parkbob, he took the leap into self-employment. Today, Parkbob is no stranger to achievements and supporters. Not only was the project backed by well-known business names from the start, others at the Puls 4 startup show “2 Minuten, 2 Millionen” [“2 Minutes, 2 Million”] were also enthused. Furthermore, the Parkbob team received the Pioneer Ventures fund a few weeks ago and recently scooped the prize at the Pioneers Asia ‘90 Second Pitch’. A fairytale career? You can surely call it that, but one that other people can be a part of. “All inhabitants of Vienna would love to have more green in their environment. Our goal is that you will able to find a free parking space more quickly despite a reduction in parking areas and thus save time, money and a lot of stress,” says Adelsberger.
