Smart Diabetes App
Diabetes is one of the most common, global health issues. Worldwide more than 387 million people live with it. The everyday life of people living with diabetes is characterized by constant control of data: interpreting blood glucose levels, calculating insulin quantities that determine carbohydrates. Although it has been proven that regular documentation can improve blood sugar control, only very few people document their data regularly.
"Our vision is to transform the treatment of diabetes into something positive to improve the quality of life of diabetic patients and to make everyday life with the disease easier," Frank Westermann talks about the motivation for the development of their successful and innovative tools. “Make Diabetes suck less! is our motto.”
The products of the Vienna startup is characterized by the intelligent combination of design, technology and diabetes medical expertise. Especially popular is the mySugr app with 200,000 registered users in the US and in Europe as well. The Companion app is based on an innovative gaming concept and allows diabetics a witty and fun way to master the complex and everyday life therapy and to make data easily available.
The young company supported by the Vienna Business Agency is now also being backed by international investors. With a total of 4.2 million Euros, the global players Roche Venture, iSeed® ventures and XLHealth have become participants - according to experts, this is to date the largest digital health investment in the German speaking area.
The cooperation with Roche was still strengthened at the middle of February, 2017: Users of the mySugr App are able to upload their blood glucose data to the newest measuring instruments of Roche automatically now. Also the data exchange with health providers and responsible persons is formed more user-freindly thanks to Cloud-based Accu-Chek systems and emminens eConecta platforms.
In August 2016 the Company founded it first subsidary in the USA: the office of mySugr Inc. sits in San Diego, California.
