Creating a magical space in our city
Since it opened in 2014, Supersense has been a café, concept store, factory, studio, stage and workshop blended into one – and has become a central hub for the creative scene in Vienna and the starting point for countless collaborations. Creatives that have benefited from its platform include Project Audio, AKM, MarkThomas, Michael Blank, Lobmeyr, Tino Valentinitsch, Paper Republic, Moduletto, Pilzbrüder, Forward Creative, Österreichwerbung, Ricarda Stahl, Austrovinyl, Healthy Boy Band – and many more.
What does the current exceptional situation and the restrictions it entails mean for your company?
A unique opportunity to rethink the future – as painful and demanding as that is right now.
What has been the biggest challenge for Supersense?
Burying old ideas, refocusing our minds and preserving the financial independence we need to follow our values without having to make compromises.
What ideas do you have for our lives/our city after the crisis?
We want to use the House of Supersense to create a pulsating new factory for positive, creative energy for the city and also create new networks and alliances.
How did you come up with the idea? How do you hope it will inspire people?
We have created public spaces like this for numerous companies over the last few years. These include the successful 25H Hotel and the KulturKaufhaus in Berlin. The crisis has made it clear to us that the time has finally come to take everything we have learned in these projects and use it to create a magical space in “our” city – a place that inspires people of all generations and from all backgrounds to be creative together.
In your view, what are going to be the most important elements for overcoming the crisis?
Collaboration, pooling energies and expertise, and developed a wide-ranging, shared vision. In our opinion, and based on our years of global expertise, that can only happen at a real, physical location. We want to create this space in partnership with and for Vienna.
Do you have any tips for other entrepreneurs?
My grandmother always used to tell me: “Aufgeben tut man nur einen Brief” (EN: Never give up!)
