The ENERGYbase was developed as a model project in the field of sustainable construction and energy efficiency in 2008. The ENERGYbase was the first business property built to the passive house standards and certified as “green building”.
The building saves approximately 80 percent of the operating costs for heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and hot water. Scientific monitoring of the building has verified and confirmed the significant savings potential.
Besides the Technikum Wien University of Applied Science, (course of studies “Renewable urban energy systems”) there are private companies and an Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) research institute for renewable energy resident at the ENERGYbase: Technological priorities located in the middle of a very traditional Viennese industrial area.
Wellness at Work - a workplace where you can feel good.
ENERGYbase offers user comfort at the highest level:
Comfort through pleasant radiant heat of a passive house.
Healthy indoor climate with ecological materials.
High air quality through ventilation system with plant filters.
The use of plants for natural air conditioning ensures a particularly comfortable indoor climate even during the winter months in an ENERGYbase facility. In contrast, the air in ordinary office buildings gets too dry because of intense heating. Ear and sinus infections, as well as an increased risk of colds result.
Optimal working conditions are a guarantee for creativity, commitment and performance of employees. The particularly good indoor climate increases well-being in the workplace, protects health and is therefore an essential economic factor.
