The workshop will give an overview of a range of new possibilities that occur through new technologies and will show practical examples and applications with both digital and physical artefacts. ranging across various disciplines like art, product design and architecture. The participants are encouraged to bring a “designed object” of everyday use of their choice. These objects will create the basis for an interactive discussion with the group about materials, form finding, digitalisation of the analogue, digital fabrication tools and methods. Within this worksession we aim to investigate the relation between the different steps of digital production and how these steps are informing each other. Additional topics might be the highlighting of the differences of prototyping, and the industrial production of designs driven by the foci and questions from the participants.
Kröhnert is an architectural researcher and specialises in digital fabrication. Since 2014 she holds a teaching position at the Institute of Architecture at the Angewandte (University of Applied Arts Vienna) in addition to leading its Digital Design and Production Lab. She is currently on sabbatical to work on the research project “Conceptual Joining” and as an artist and product designer.
