As part of the Urban Food & Design series, creative minds at this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK will showcase new concepts for urban food consumption
Chicken Run is a thing of the past. The future is a world run by chickens – or at least, that’s the concept that designers Anastasia Eggers and Ottonie von Roeder will be presenting at this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK with their project, Egg to Go. As well as an egg kiosk run by hens, the heart of their design is the notion of a fictional city in which humans and animals coexist on equal terms. This vision of the future calls for a change in how we think about consumption and is part of the Urban Food and Design series, held this year for the second time by the Vienna Business Agency and VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. The programme includes talks, tours and the Food in Progress exhibition, which includes the Egg to Go project. The Urban Food and Design series is part of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, starting on 27 September. The projects in the series aim to provoke a debate on the major topics of production, distribution and advertising and their impact on society, on the origins of the produce we consume and on creating closed production systems wherever possible, as well as on related issues of transport, packaging and presentation.
