London calling: Vienna signs a City-to-City agreement with the fifth largest economic centre in the world.
There is now a new opportunity for Viennese companies wanting to gain a foothold in London: with the completion of the “City-to-City Business Welcome Programme”, Vienna has become part of a global network of cities aspiring to work together to support the further development, growth and expansion of local companies in other partner cities.
The agreement between Vienna and London is aimed at supporting and advising companies that wish to establish themselves in the relevant partner city, and providing them with a smooth transition from the home city to the new city.
This includes supporting office space in co-working spaces, contacts with investors, introduction to various networks and ecosystems as well as assistance with accommodation during the initial stages.
The agreement was signed during Deputy Mayor of London Rajesh Agrawal’s visit to Vienna. Accompanied by a delegation of London-based business experts, he visited companies from the Viennese life science and FinTech sectors. The Viennese FinTech community has become significantly more dynamic in the past two years and, in general, the potential in this area has increased significantly. The Viennese life science sector has been well-established and internationally recognised for years and, through last year’s application for the European Medicines Agency, Vienna has also attracted international media attention as a life science location.
