Unstoppable: for the tenth time in a row, Vienna comes out top with Mercer.
This is a huge confirmation and a success for all who live and work in our city: in 2019, for the tenth time in a row, the Mercer Institute has once again published their rankings, and have found that Vienna is the most popular city in the world in terms of quality of living! Vienna has held this crown for a decade now, which is a unique global achievement.
A comparison was made of 231 cities from all continents, with Vienna topping the ranking ahead of Zurich, followed by Vancouver and Munich in joint third place.
The Mercer Institute's assessment includes 98% independent data on the political, social and economic climate, as well as on medical care, training opportunities, and infrastructure requirements such as the public transport network, electricity and water supply. In other words, criteria that are of interest to all Viennese in their daily private and professional lives, and that are relevant for building a "feel-good factor" for all inhabitants of a city. Leisure facilities such as restaurants, theatres, cinemas, sports facilities, the availability of consumer goods from food to cars, and environmental conditions from green spaces to air pollution, are also compared.
