Vienna Biennale: “Rethinking Urban Production” with five creative ideas

We are shaping tomorrow’s cities – right here in Vienna.
Under this year’s motto, “BRAVE NEW VIRTUES. Shaping Our Digital World”, the Vienna Business Agency has brought the Ottakringer Brewery on board for the Vienna Biennale for Change and jointly proclaimed the new challenge: “FUTURE FACTORY”. Creative minds from all over Austria took part in the contest to develop creative solutions for a broader concept of urban production.
The spectrum of possibilities ranged from proposals for using breweries beyond their core business activities, through new methods in show production and catering, to entrepreneurial initiatives. These also included proposals for creating viable living spaces near manufacturing company sites.
The five award-winning projects have now been selected and announced at the MAK. A preview will be available from the 28th May in the MAK GALERIE, where all the projects will be presented as teaser exhibitions. They will then be displayed live at the Ottakringer Brewery this autumn (11th September – 6th October 2019).
The award-winning projects are (in alphabetical order):
Masha Dabelka: TurnTablista
Daryna Eder: Daryn Chook
Polycular: Escape AR
vertical farm institute: Urban Food Hub Ottakring
wechselstrom: Habitat für Physarium Polycephalum
