Floridsdorf now has a new hotspot for research, innovation and technology development: the Vienna Innovation Area.
The Vienna Innovation Area on Gieffinggasse is welcoming a new "big player" - the AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology) is consolidating its locations in Vienna and moving its over 850 employees to the 21st district. The high-tech location of the Vienna Innovation Area is situated in the immediate vicinity of Siemens City, Atos, Rail Tec Arsenal’s Climate Wind Channel, the FH Technikum University of Applied Sciences as well as other national and international companies involved in the field of technological research and innovation. With the AIT, Floridsdorf is getting another important player in the field of research and innovation.
Since 2017 Lunatone is also in this area. At the end of 2018, IBM and A1 Telekom will also be moving their expertise near to the Vienna Innovation Area along with the completed A1 Next Generation Datacenter that deals with data security and digitalisation. Greater data volumes and increasing digitalisation are boosting companies’ demands for high-performance data networks.
Since 2002, the Vienna Business Agency has built three properties on Giefinggasse 2-6, which offer room for research-based and technology-minded companies.
