The Danube metropolis is in fourth place in global startup ranking.
Startups are doing well in Vienna, and last week the Global Talent Competitiveness Index, published as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos, showed exactly how well. This index evaluates cities based on the quality of framework conditions offered to startups. At fourth place in the world, not only has Vienna achieved an outstanding performance, but also far surpassed Berlin, London, New York and San Francisco.
“This ranking confirms that our economic policy in Vienna is on the right track. We are especially delighted to have eclipsed genuine startup champions such as Berlin, London and even the Silicon Valley,” says Gerhard Hirzci, Managing Director of the Vienna Business Agency.
Cities were assessed on their qualities in five fields: research, internationalisation, attractiveness, development opportunities, and environmental conditions. Washington D.C. came out on top in the global ranking, while among the European cities assessed, Vienna took third place, and even took first place in German-speaking countries.
