Free workshops and networking events for funded project teams.
The “Vienna Media Initiative” funding programme, launched in autumn 2019, supports the implementation of innovative journalistic ideas. The programme has already gone through four rounds and provided more than four million euros in funding for 96 projects.
Now the programme is being expanded further still: the Vienna Media Initiative Lab is aimed at supporting participants who are already receiving funding to raise the professional profile of their project even higher. Individual workshops will be held to address economic and strategic issues to position these – already successful – initiatives even more effectively. In addition, it is hoped that fostering an exchange between journalists will increase the innovative strength of the media industry in Vienna as a whole. The labs are implemented in cooperation with fjum Forum Journalismus und Medien.
The offer is aimed at project teams that have received funding under the Media Start and Media Project programmes from the 4th submission round on (this applies to submissions from 10 January 2021). They can each take part in two networking events and four workshops with experts from the relevant field. Participation is voluntary and project teams do not have to pay for this service. No registration is necessary. The funded companies will be contacted directly and invited to participate.
