25.000 euros for the best final and project papers in the fields of teaching science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
Our life is becoming increasingly digitalised. It is essential that children and adolescents in particular engage with new technologies and digital skills so that they can understand and, above all, actively shape the world of tomorrow. Elementary and primary teachers have a particularly important role to play here.
The Vienna Business Agency’s futureEDUCATION Award showcases educational concepts that explore ways in which teachers can provide effective science and technology education from pre-school age onwards. This award specifically targets teachers at the beginning of their professional careers and rewards them for their innovative ideas. The prize money is 500–1,000 euros per paper, depending on the work involved; a maximum of 24 papers will receive an award. The submission period runs from 1 February to 30 April 2022.
We are looking for final papers and projects that address:
- how teachers can get children excited about STEM
- how to increase children’s confidence in their own abilities,
- how to overcome gender stereotyping and gender bias in STEM,
- how schools and nursery schools can help reduce social inequality in STEM.

For a number of years, the Vienna Business Agency has offered a wide range of activities aimed at making scientific research a visible and tangible part of everyday life. The main focus is on workshops for school classes (link) but it also organises large-scale events such as the Vienna Research Festival. The goal is to provide information about new technologies and research milestones and in particular to get young people excited about science and research.
