Vienna Design Week
Austria’s biggest design festival, Vienna Design Week, is always a high point in the creative year. This year it will take place from 23 September to 3 October, with events focused in the Brigittenau district.
As part of our focus on Let’s talk food, the Urban Food & Design initiative shows how design plays a part in food production, consumer habits and dining culture, and thus shapes the future. An interactive installation by design researcher Kathrina Dankl enables visitors to discover for themselves local and international perspectives on the topic. The playful experience, which is located in the festival headquarters on Sachsenplatz, invites visitors to question their day-to-day behaviours in a familiar shopping setting, try out new things and maybe even change their own habits.
Sachsenplatz is also where the studio mobil / think tank station will be making its final stop from 1 to 3 October, with its EAT LOVE – food spaces of tomorrow programme.
The Design Everyday exhibition, which also takes place during the festival, showcases responsibly designed everyday objects from Austria.
