With a total of EUR 15 million, "Wien Online" is the largest funding campaign for small and medium-sized enterprises that Vienna has ever launched.
"Even before the Corona crisis, Vienna was already in the forefront of digitisation. The crisis has shown us that especially small companies need even more strength in the digital field. That's why we've spent 15 million euros to ignite the turbo," explains Peter Hanke, City Council for Finance, Economy, Digitisation and International Affairs. "With a total of EUR 15 million, the "Wien Online" funding programme is the largest funding campaign for small and medium-sized enterprises that Vienna has ever launched".
Companies receive up to 10,000 € in funding to start or further expand their online presence. The funding rate is 75%. This means that if a company invests 10,000 € in an online presence, 7,500 € of this is subsidised.
"Wien Online" picks up where Corona has made it more important than ever: online shopping has a high importance than ever. There is no way around digitalisation if the market is not to be left to the online giants from abroad. Hence the funding programme supports small Viennese companies in establishing and expanding their online presence; consumers will not have to do without local products and services "Made in Vienna", but will have the opportunity to buy their favourite product online in any situation.
Hans Arsenovic, business spokesman of the Green Party in Vienna, member of the Executive Board of the Vienna Business Agency and Vice-President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce: "The Federal Government has put 37 billion euros into the hands of the business community to provide rapid support for entrepreneurs. This provides a good basis and helps 70,000 one-person and micro-enterprises to get through the difficult times. It was now important for us to support all those who, for various reasons, are not entitled to federal funding or need additional initial financing for sustainable projects. "Wien Online" is an incentive financing scheme that offers concrete solutions. Small businesses benefit from the establishment or expansion of online shops even beyond the Corona crisis and remain competitive".
