In the COMET program, the Vienna Business Agency in cooperation with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, promotes the development and expansion of research and competence centres and connects economy and science in Vienna. The object of the competence centres is to bring together scientific foundations and companies with concrete research needs and in this way, convert cooperation and joint projects to an internationally competitive level.

In April 2016, a tender for K2 centres was launched. All important information on the Call and the eligibility criteria can be found in the Fact Sheet for Tenders (PDF in German).

The tender is open to existing centres of competence or competence projects, as well as to new consortia in the cooperation between science and economy and follows a competition process.
