Breaking Ground for a New Datacenter in Vienna

A1 invested 40 million Euro in the location, and the co-operation partner is IBM.
By the end of 2018, there will be a new data centre in Vienna Florisdorf. The “A1 Next Generation Datacenter” offers companies the opportunity to house their IT infrastructure in a highly secure environment. The project was implemented in collaboration with IBM, and the investment total was approximately 40 million Euro.
The ”Datacenter” will have an area of approximately 12,000 sq. m. Highest-level certifications for safety and environmental management and the exclusive use of green electricity will make it one of the most cutting-edge data centres in Europe. For Vienna, this is another step towards developing an outstanding digital infrastructure.
Demand is high: companies are resorting more and more to the services of data centres to fulfil increasing requirements for high security and high availability of IT systems. The demand for secure data storage is increasing constantly. The data inventory of Western Europe is growing exponentially, and almost half of the data is produced by companies.
The Vienna Business Agency supported the implementation of the project with a subsidy under the auspice of the location initiative.
