Starting today, Europe’s largest network event is bringing key industry figures to Vienna
International decision-makers and leading life scientists are coming together in Vienna today. More than 15,000 meetings are scheduled to take place at the 2019 Bio-Europe Spring conference, plotting the course for the development of the life sciences over the coming years. With more than 70 exhibitors and over 1,500 participating companies from all over the world, Bio-Europe Spring is the most important industry event to take place at the start of the year.
Vienna clearly has its finger on the pulse of the times – this is demonstrated, for example, by leading global companies whose continuous investments run into the millions. According to the Vienna Life Science Report, the 177 life science companies operating in Vienna invested 750 million euros in research and development in 2017 alone.
As a top location for the life sciences, Vienna is also the first point of contact in Austria for startups and newly founded companies. Between 2014 and 2017 alone, more than 50 companies opted to establish their businesses in Vienna.
Another key element will be added to the broad spectrum of support measures for the entire life science sector this year: starting in 2019, the Vienna Business Agency will offer young companies a fully equipped startup laboratory infrastructure in the Vienna Biocenter. This shared infrastructure will provide considerable support, enabling startups to commence their operations in Vienna flexibly, easily and with minimum risk.
