2016: 178 international companies established in Vienna

178 international companies were established in Vienna in 2016. This is the 5th consecutive time that the Vienna Business Agency, working closely with the ABA (Austrian Business Agency), has set a record for establishing companies in the capital.

What this means in numbers: 

• 288.8 million euro investment volume and
• 1,144 new Jobs

"Many times, years of planning and intensive support goes into the establishment of a company. We travel throughout the world the entire year to sell international companies on Vienna. In 2016 we promoted Vienna in 22 countries and 42 cities. We are very conscious of our responsibility as a metropolis for the entire Austrian economy", concludes Gerhard Hirczi, managing director of the Vienna Business Agency.

Germany leads the countries of origin with 49 projects, followed by Russia with 13. Hungary and Italy share the third place with 11 projects each.  Alternative: The third place is shared by Hungary and Italy with 11 projects each.
