Hommage - Ideal or Pattern?

The concept behind the exhibition at the Knoll Gallery arises from the question of how to rethink the old idea of homage, based on an authoritarian structure, and whether our approach towards homage can take a non-hierarchical form. What could it mean for older artists to look towards younger generations (and not just vice versa)? And in which form could this occur?
