Jugendzimmer (Teen bedroom)

An homage should be more than a mere representation. It should also break the reference up into smaller components and create something new. The teen bedroom is where everyone puts the principle of “homage” into practice. A space, a lair, the scene of a person’s transition into adulthood. A new character emerges from the separate parts, from found objects, from symbols, from idols, from favourite things and pet hates; the many daily homages to things that seem or really are important coalesce to form the “I”. Dirk Schönberger curates this exhibition, which puts the spotlight on precisely this place: the teen bedroom.
