
Veit Loers
*1942, lives and works in Veneto, Italy
Veit Loers is active as author and curator in German-speaking countries since 2003.
After studying history of art in Munich and Vienna, Veit Loers was working as head of the Städtische Galerie Leerer Beutel in Regensburg since 1980. From 1987 to 1995 he held the post of artistic director at the Fridericianum in Kassel. Until 2003 he worked as director of the Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach. From 2000 to 2002 he was curator of the Federal Republic of Germany collection of contemporary art. In the years 2010 to 2012 he acted as director of the Kunstraum Innsbruck, Austria.
Veit Loers curated numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art with artists such as Pierre Soulages, Joseph Beuys, Kurt Kocherscheidt, Antony Gormley, Isa Genzken, Martin Kippenberger, Franz West, Günther Förg, Jeff Koons, Tobias Rehberger, Jorge Pardo, Kai Althoff, Gregor Schneider, Jonathan Meese, Tal R, Cady Noland, Felix Gonzales-Torres, Corinne Wasmuth, Thomas Zipp, Danh Vo and many others.
In particular, the exhibitions Schlaf der Vernunft and Wiener Aktionismus 1988 at Fridericianum in Kassel, Okkultismus und Avantgarde 1995 at Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, Im Reich der Phantome, Fotografie des Unsichtbaren 1997 at Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach, Actionbutton, Neuerwerbungen zeitgenössischer Kunst in der BRD 2003 at Museum Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, and Avatar und Atavismus at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf show the high quality of his curatorship.
