Open Ear Vienna

Description
A portrait of Vienna through the mother tongues of its inhabitants.
Today’s Vienna is much more global than it is judged to be on an international level. One indication of this – and also of the related innovative climate – is the number of different languages that are spoken here. Current estimates range between 100 and 250.
Open Ear Vienna enables us to hear – and see – this internationality in the form of a website presented as a digital atlas, which gathers acoustic statements that are spoken by the residents in their mother tongues.
Each of these language samples is translated and dynamically visualized in the lettering of the relevant language as well as enhanced by information about the quotation, the language and the biographical background of the speaker.
