SoHo’s Greene Street was home to several legendary artist-led projects and initiatives that shaped contemporary art discourse. One of the main spaces on Greene Street was artist owned, ensuring its cultural viability.
Our mission is to develop a concrete proposal for affordable studio and exhibition space, within the context of a singular, unique, transformative, and sustainable visual art center. A system of shared resources and mentorship allows the budgets of mostly non-profit organizations to be dedicated to artistic production, not dictated by austerity. This feasibility study would offer solutions to infrastructural questions that are rarely addressed, and would function as a vehicle for discourse.
GREENE STREET reflects and embraces the interconnectivity of equity, capital, currencies, and investment, and offers artists an ownership stake for their contributions to the life, economy, and wellbeing of Vienna.
