Competition Creatives for Vienna

- The "Creatives for Vienna" competition is open to all creatives, visionaries and thinkers who are residents of Vienna or run a company, association or business in Vienna.
- The formats eligible for submission include concepts, that respond to the themes defined in the competition.
- Participation in the ideas competition "Creatives for Vienna" in 2020 is not a prerequisite for participation in the competition "Creatives for Vienna" in 2021.
- It is possible to participate with further developments of concepts that were submitted and rejected or awarded prizes in the "Creatives for Vienna" ideas competition in 2020.
- The submitted concept may not be fully implemented yet; further developments of already implemented concepts are eligible for the competition.
- One and the same project cannot be supported within the framework of the competition "Creatives for Vienna" and the Vienna Business Agency’s EPU (one-person-company) funding programme.
- Cooperative projects are eligible for submission and encouraged:
- The project partners have to be specified.
- A project lead has to be defined as the contact person.
- The project lead either has to be a resident of Vienna, or run a company, association or business in Vienna.
- Participation in the competition is free of charge.
- Submissions can only be made online at wirtschaftsagentur.at/login or via the submission form.
- Submissions have to be made in German or English.
- Submitting persons must have reached the age of 18.
- One submission is possible per person.
- Submissions can be made via the online submission form from 1 March 2021 on an ongoing basis until 8 June 2021.
The evaluation of the submissions will take place in three rounds of jury sessions:
1st submission deadline: Tuesday, 6 April 2021; 1:00 pm
2nd submission deadline: Tuesday, 11 May 2021; 1:00 pm
3rd submission deadline: Tuesday, 8 June 2021; 1:00 pm
Not eligible to participate are
- Employees of the Vienna Business Agency – and their relatives and affiliates,
- Employees of companies legally affiliated with the Vienna Business Agency,
- as well as persons and companies involved in the execution or handling of the competition.
Submissions that do not meet these entry requirements cannot be considered further and are consequently excluded from participation in the competition.
Submission format
The submission form must be completed in full online at wirtschaftsagentur.at/login or via the submission form and all uploads requested therein must be attached. All required documents must be submitted to the Vienna Business Agency by 1:00 pm on Tuesday, 8 June 2021. The submitting parties are responsible for the timely receipt of all required documents. The uploads to be attached to the submission form are subject to the following general conditions:
1. Contents of the concept paper
- Project title
- Submitter (company name, association name and/or submitting person)
- CV of the project team or company profile (max. 500 characters)
- Description of the project (max. 800 characters)
- Relevance to the call for proposals, especially for the topic "Future Communities" (max. 500 characters)
- Description of the network: existing and/or aspired partnerships (max. 300 characters)
- Explanation of the planned implementation steps (max. 500 characters)
- Timetable of the planned implementation steps
- Cost estimate of the planned implementation steps and intended use of the implementation grant
- Project visualisation incl. credits
- Further links, incl. link to an explanatory video (optional)
2. Format of the concept paper
- max. 6 pages, DIN A4
- max. 10MB
3. Project image (Photo or artwork to illustrate the concept)
- Format: 700x700px
- max. 10MB
- JPG or PNG
The submission of prototypes or models as well as submission via mail are not possible. Personal contact details will not be made available to the public.
The Vienna Business Agency accepts no liability for the accuracy or completeness of the data supplied or uploaded or for any errors, faults or damage that may occur. Moreover, the Vienna Business Agency accepts no liability for technical problems.
Evaluation
Jury selection
The evaluation and selection of submissions for the jury awards is carried out on an ongoing basis by an independent jury and experts from the Vienna Business Agency.

- Relevance for the call for proposals, especially for the focus topic "Future Communities"
Online public voting
All projects that have received a jury award automatically take part in the online public voting. Participation in the public voting is obligatory for award-winning projects. The audience awards will be determined by means of public online voting at viennabusinessagency.at after the closing date for submissions. The three projects with the most audience votes will receive an audience award in addition to the jury award. The results of the competition are not contestable. Further details on the online public voting will be announced in due course.
Prize money*
Jury Awards
In accordance with the competition principle, the Vienna Business Agency will award prize money in the amount of 7,000 euros per project in the form of implementation grants to positively evaluated submissions selected by the jury. A maximum of 140 jury awards are available.
Audience awards
In addition to the jury award, projects that have been awarded by the jury, may receive additional audience awards by way of a public voting on viennabusinessagency.at with the three projects with the highest number of votes receiving the following prizes:
1st place 3,000 euros
2nd place 2,500 euros
3rd place 1,500 euros
The three audience awards will be awarded, presumably in the 4th quarter of 2021. The participants are responsible for the proper taxation of the prize money (as well as the payment of any social security contributions).
*The prize money constitutes aid for companies in accordance with the provisions of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1407/2013 of 18 December 2013 on the application of Articles 107 and 108 of the EC Treaty to de minimis aid (de minimis regulation) and is not earmarked for a specific purpose. The applicants, provided they are entrepreneurs, undertake to submit a de minimis declaration provided by the Vienna Business Agency before any prize money is paid out.
Rights of use
Copyrights remain with the respective submitters at all times. The submitters grant the Vienna Business Agency the non-commercial rights of use and publication of the submitted materials for all publications and public relations work connected with the competition.
The Vienna Business Agency is not obliged to check whether the entrants to the competition are entitled to rights of use or other rights and licences to the productions they have submitted or whether conditions of use have been complied with and the necessary permission for use has been obtained.
If a submission infringes the rights of third parties or if such an infringement is alleged by third parties, the submitters undertake to fully indemnify and keep the Vienna Business Agency harmless from any claims or demands arising from the use of the submission (in accordance with these General Terms and Conditions of Participation).
By participating in the competition "Creatives for Vienna", entrants agree that all submitted documents will be published and that the details of the project title, entrant, project image and description of the project will be made available for online voting as part of the public prize, provided that a jury prize has been awarded.
Data protection
The Vienna Business Agency processes the disclosed personal data (in particular name, company/company register number, address, telephone/fax number, e-mail address, URL, etc.) of the submitters on the basis of their consent and in order to fulfil a legal obligation. The processing of this data is also permitted after the end of the competition, provided that this is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the Vienna Business Agency or to fulfil a legal obligation. Miscellaneous
The Vienna Business Agency does not guarantee the correct and complete presentation of the submission, regardless of the reason for the incorrect or incomplete presentation.
In particular, the Vienna Business Agency does not guarantee or warrant that
- the submitters are entitled to a prize;
- the use of the services by the entrants is uninterrupted, timely, secure and free from error;
- any information received by the submitters as a result of their use of the services is accurate or reliable;
- errors in the operation or functionality of any software that the submitters receive as part of the services are corrected; the submitters are provided with appropriate data storage space.
Further notes
- Submissions with illegal, ideology-glorifying, otherwise immoral or questionable content will be removed from the website or not released. This also applies to submissions that are of low quality or that depict sexual activities or brutalities in an obtrusively speculative manner.
- To participate in the competition, the General Conditions of Participation must be read, understood and accepted.
- The Vienna Business Agency is entitled to verify and have any information provided by the entrants confirmed.
- Should unexpected events occur that prevent the execution of the competition in whole or in part, the Vienna Business Agency reserves the right to change the conditions for the competition at any time and without prior notice or to cancel the programme completely or in certain subject areas. In this respect, any claim for compensation on the part of the submitters is completely excluded.
- The entrants agree that the Vienna Business Agency accepts no liability whatsoever for injuries, losses, costs, damages or disappointments of any kind arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in this competition.
- Entrants who use or attempt to use unauthorised means to increase their chances of winning or to gain other advantages through manipulation will be automatically excluded from participation. If prizes have been won as a result of such manipulation, they may also be subsequently withdrawn or reclaimed. The Vienna Business Agency reserves the right to take legal action in connection with any manipulation or misuse.
Validity of the regulations
With the submission, the regulations of these guidelines are accepted. This competition and all disputes arising out of or in connection with this competition shall be governed by Austrian law, excluding the conflict of laws rules. The place of jurisdiction is the competent court in Vienna.
