CiSci by Logische Phantasie Lab / Lisa-Marie Weidl
Logische Phantasie Lab’s (LoPh) Decentralized Water Rights initiative is a community-building project which brings together people across different backgrounds, ages, and cultures to work towards a common goal: water justice in Austria.
Together with scientists, citizen science experts, climate activists, and app developers, and building on multi-year long research and various community engagement initiatives, LoPh is developing an open source mobile app CiSci that aims to fill the gap of critical water and soil information in Austria and enables real people to take action in creating measurable, meaningful change.
The project is awarded with production support, the Content Vienna Connecting South by Southwest special prize and the women's bonus.
The CiSci open-source app convinced the jury with its transdisciplinary and inclusive approach to communicating a socio-politically relevant topic: how should we deal with water as a resource? The app aims to make environmental data accessible and understandable for a wide range of target groups. The community concept is central to this. The project is backed by a professional team of experts from the fields of blockchain, anthropology, design, (water) law, socio-ecological economics and politics, cartography and data visualisation.
