TOUR: Vienna Biennale – Creativity & Technology
AIL – Change was our only Chance
With its contribution Change was our only Chance, the Angewandte Innovation Lab (AIL) of the University of Applied Arts is now questioning current ecological, economic and technological changes, as well as their effects on our areas of life in 2019.
The artists' collective Time´s Up creates a world in the year 2047 in the installation Change Was Our Only Chance. This world can be experienced and entered, and makes a possible future tangible. The future scenario reflects today's economic and social developments. How can we as a collective meet these developments with positive impulses in order not to freeze as individuals in the face of the problems of our world?
UNCANNY VALUES. Artificial Intelligence & You. An exhibition of the MAK
With the exhibition UNCANNY VALUES. Artificial Intelligence & You, the MAK deals with one of the most important topics of the coming decades, which will have far-reaching consequences for all areas of our lives: artificial intelligence (AI).
In order to understand the potential of AI and the technologies associated with it, to help shape and make meaningful use of it, a new cultural sensitivity is needed, which this exhibition aims to stimulate. Multimedia installations by 18 international artists and designers are in dialogue with examples and scenarios from current areas of application of AI in a generous parcours.
Curator Marlies Wirth leads through the exhibition.
MAK Design Lab
The repositioning of the MAK DESIGN LAB places design as the engine of sustainable change. Objects from the MAK collection are positioned in a new context and located at the interfaces between everyday life, society, digitalisation and climate change by means of multi-layered perspectives. New technologies and tools have noticeable effects on how our relationship with things changes and on the way we shape society and the environment. Against the background of the great challenges of the digital age, it is a matter of re-evaluating human abilities and attitudes and consciously applying them.
