TOUR: Music & Technology

SUPERSENSE

SUPERSENSE was founded in 2014 by Florian Kaps with the mission and goal of protecting analogue technologies from disappearance and providing them with a home in the digital age.
Traditional analogue products and technologies are (re)discovered, reinvented and presented at SUPERSENSE and thus gain a place in our digital world.
Located in Vienna's only Venetian palace - the Dogenhof on Praterstraße - Supersense operates an analogue factory, a printing workshop, a polaroid photo studio, a store and a cafe, as well as a record recording studio, where artists such as Gregory Porter and Die Fantastischen Vier give concerts that are cut directly onto high-quality records and then become collector's items in completely handmade, limited editions. And in the Record Elevator - a converted recording cabin - anyone can easily record a 90-second single at any time.

Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper)

As part of our tour we will visit one of the most important international opera houses, the Wiener Staatsoper. We will be led by Christoph Widauer, Head of Digital Development at the Wiener Staatsoper since the beginning of 2013. These include the extensive live and on-demand streaming programme staatsoperlive.com, the installation of the new Smart Chair System (2,100 interactive tablet computers at each seat and standing area), and since 2018 the development and implementation of an application for digital sheet music.

Birdkids

The company birdkids, founded in 2012 by Michael Beim, started off as a record label. After many years of research in the field of hardware-based sound synthesis and analogue audio circuits, birdkids developed a modular boutique-quality synthesiser product line in 2015: its flagship product, the Title42hp System, which is now available in its second product generation. The synthesiser enjoys international recognition for its unique analogue sound and minimalist aesthetics. Among its customers are renowned musicians such as Martin Gore of Depeche Mode, Shigeto of Brainfeeder and Grammy Award winner John Lunn of BBC (Downton Abbey) as well as many others. In 2018, the team successfully completed a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. With the proceeds they produce a 100% analogue, dual synthesiser voice (RAVEN) in modular format. It will be produced, assembled and finalised by hand entirely in Austria.

The tour Music & Technology will take place on 13 June 2019/ Day 1 of the Creative Days Vienna – limited places available
