MONOCOLOR
MONOCOLOR aka Marian Essl is an audiovisual artist from Vienna. He explores the shadow areas between image and sound in installative and performative works. His entirely generative, algorithmically generated visual worlds oscillate between flowing textures and rigid, architectural structures. His focus is on the interrelationship between sound, image and space with the aim of creating highly immersive audiovisual universes.
His work has been shown in a range of contexts nationally and internationally. In 2020, he received the New Face Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo for his audiovisual fulldome performance "Latent Space", realized during a residency at the Société des arts technologiques in Montréal.
