
Matteo Haitzmann
Matteo Haitzmann was born and raised in Unken (Salzburg Land), where he was strongly influenced by folk music and customs. After the village life, Haitzmann studied jazz violin at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz and performance art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In 2017 he started studying contextual painting with Ashley Hans Scheirl.
He is also a founding member of the contemporary folk music ensemble ALMA, the Vienna-based jazz collective Little Rosies’ Kindergarten and the improvisation quartet s q u a m a t a. Apart from his collective work, Haitzmann is also touring with solo programs.
Haitzmann has performed at the Wiener Musikverein, Konzerthaus Vienna, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Centre Georges Pompidou Paris, Centre National de la Danse Paris, Kaai Theater Brussels, Gessnerallee Zurich, at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and the Festspiele Erl.
His compositional activities include solos, duos, ensemble music and orchestral pieces.
In 2017 Haitzmann made his debut with the Ensemble ALMA and the Lower Austrian Tonkunstler Orchestra in the golden hall of the Vienna Musikverein.
