FLO REAL
FLO REAL's musical roots can be found in the r'n'b, soul and boogie funk sounds of the 1980s, her father's vinyl collection served as her earliest source of inspiration. She developed a record digging habit during the golden era of hip hop and her musical career took off in the early 2000's, when she was offered a job at Kruder & Dorfmeister’s prestigious “G-Stone Recordings” label and started playing opening sets at the monthly G-Stone Sessions. Soon thereafter she became a member of the Dub Club Vienna family. Influenced by her environment and radio programs, such as Gilles Peterson’s worldwide show, Florence started exploring all facets of electronic music, incorporating them into her then vinyl-only sets. To this day she stands for an eclectic sound - always soulful, with a jazz attitude and an afro-funk feeling. After a 2-year stint as an on-air personality at the Viennese private radio station 98.3 Superfly.fm Florence joined the Detroit-based record label Mahogani Music in 2010 and started traveling extensively, both as a tour manager for Moodymann and in her own right as a DJ. Behind the scenes she’s pulling strings as one of the label managers for KDJ Records and Mahogani Music. In 2019 FLO REAL became a resident and core member of Vienna's hottest house music collective, “A Party Called JACK”, once again making waves in her own hometown.
