AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT
Director: Jens Meurer | Ö/D 2020 | 35mm film | Original version with subtitles.
Insta-stories, streaming, fitness apps and e-books. The hype about the almost complete digitalisation of our lives is making way for an increased longing for the real and tangible. Digital detox, vinyl and analogue photography, handwritten and homemade items are in vogue.
“AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT” shows people who were already looking for a shift to the analogue when others were still indulging in the promises of the next iPhone generation. Like the eccentric but sympathetic hero of the film, the Viennese Florian "Doc" Kaps. In 2008, he risked his entire fortune to save the world's last Polaroid factory from going out of business. A courageous project that brought him to run an analogue cabinet of curiosities in Vienna nowadays.
The film "AN IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT" will be screened from the original 35mm copy at the Filmcasino on 2 June 2022.
