CIVA-Tour
Embodied Structures
As part of the CIVA tour, a new perspective of the second edition of the Viennese media art festival will be taken. Under the title "Embodied Structures", CIVA 2022 was dedicated to the body and its diverse and constantly changing identities. With the participation of artists and researchers from diverse fields of activity, the festival offered a forum that conceived the body as a political field between the analog and the digital and opened a discussion on how and whether "internalized structures" can and must be "unlearned".
In the course of the tour, participants will meet artists and experts from the CIVA programme 2022, who will once again give insights into their works and reflect on them in relation to the focus Culture & Technology. The CIVA curators Eva Fischer, Martina Menegon and Djamila Grandits will lead to three different stops.
At tour stop one artist Cristian Anutoiu (they/them) gives insight into the production of their phygital and sculptural work "COME FEEL MY SKINS", which was realised with the help of a KUKA robot. Tour participants will learn more about the artistic work and experience the KUKA robot in action.
The second tour stop is the master's program "Experimental Game Cultures" of the University of Applied Arts, where the head of the program Margarete Jahrmann gives an insight into her programme and the collaboration with CIVA. In addition, the university assistant of the programme and artist Rebecca Merlic will talk about her work "GLITCHBODIES", which was also shown as part of the CIVA exhibition at Belvedere21.
As the final stop of the tour, the participants will head back to the Creative Days Vienna’s headquarters at the Volkskundemuseum and talk to filmmaker Cosima Terrasse (Group Laokoon) about her work "MADE TO MEASURE", which was shown as part of the exhibition, and get an impression from her about the data traces we ourselves leave behind on the web every day.
The CIVA Tour will take place on 2 June 2022.
