Target groups in their diversity

Within the scope of fulfilling its remit, the Vienna Business Agency is actively and visibly committed to offering equal opportunities to all people. Diversity has a very high priority in our work. We want to support our target groups in the best possible way, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, marital status, disability, social origin or ideology.

The Vienna Business Agency has been pursuing a consistent gender mainstreaming approach for more than 15 years, i.e. it is committed to avoiding or eliminating social inequalities between women and men. In 2017, this approach was supplemented by further aspects of diversity and transferred into the initiative "Target groups in their diversity". A comprehensive report on the topic provides an initial interim assessment and overview of all current activities:

We live in diversity and support equal opportunities.

The aim of the initiative is to support the target groups in all their diversity in the best possible way and to reduce existing disadvantages in a targeted way. Social inequalities are taken into account in all planning and decision-making steps. Wherever possible, all projects are designed in such a way that they also contribute to the promotion of equality for all target groups.

For example, start-up advice is available in 17 languages, and the "CORE" project supports refugees in setting up businesses in Vienna. To support women in business, there are specific funding calls and bonuses as well as the Vienna Business Agency's Women's Service, which has been active for many years. Events and workshops for children and young people teach science and technology in a child-friendly way, and in the real estate sector the focus is on diversity-friendly construction. With flexible parental leave and part-time work arrangements and specific further training offers, the Vienna Business Agency also pays attention to activities that affect its own team.
